Personal Interests

Outside of medicine, Dr. Anding has numerous and varied interests. Having been a decorated athlete in earlier years, he was the first inductee into the Louisiana State University Athletic and Academic Hall of Fame. He has maintained his athleticism by running, biking, water skiing and snow skiing. Additionally, he participates in numerous charitable events and has consecutively ridden the 185 mile MS 150 charity bike ride annually from Houston to Austin since 1997. Dr. Anding frequently attends collegiate and professional sporting events where he proudly accompanies his wife and daughter who are the teams’ sports dietitians.

He is equally proud of his two sons, one is a forensic scientist and the other is in sports marketing promoting the Summer and Winter Olympics.

On the lighter side, how many people do you know that can say that they “own a town?” Dr. Anding can. In 2007, he and his lifelong friends bought an abandoned historic Texas town that was founded in 1832. Since then, Dr. Anding has become an armchair Texan historian, and the group has initiated the restoration of several buildings to bring life back to a long, forgotten small country community.
